The ASLA 2011 award winning Varsity® Bike Dock is currently is the bicycle parking solution of choice on over 80 campuses and growing daily. Built around APBP bicycle parking guidelines and is one of the only ADA approved bike racks. 

The unique wheel capturing system prevents bike’s front tires from slipping out and causing tripping hazards or difficulty accessing bikes. The raised electrolysis puck allows for easy removal of debris and prevents rust discoloration on the ground. Smart Guards not only can be customized for messaging and branding purposes, but the case hardened steel surrounded by bike friendly injection mold offers the highest security against theft and prevents the bike frame from rubbing against metal. Hot Dipped Galvanized Finish

Ground Control’s hot-dipped galvanizing process provides an abrasion-resistant finish suitable for the most utilitarian applications of our products. Our regimented 4-stage process involves pre-treating the object to ensure a clean application of our finish before the product is immersed in 98% pure molten zinc and allowed to dry in ambient air. The final step is hand-filing the product to remove any “galvanizing flash.” This detailed process creates a non-permeable zinc-oxide barrier thereby prolonging the life of the rack or shelter in outdoor environments. Galvanizing is recommended for embeded, or in ground, installations. This 20-year product oxidizes after a 3 year period, slightly dulling the sheen to build up a protective layer that lasts years.

Duraplas™ Thermoplastic Finish

Site uniformity and pristine product finish are our goals for every project we work on. We learned through years of onsite experience that facilities staff usually has to paint racks year after year due to wear and tear and corrosion from environmental elements. Enter our finish of choice, Duraplas™ Thermoplastic. It is the most durable, longest lasting finish available, ensuring that our racks stand up to damage caused by harmful elements and direct impact. It’s double locked UV stabilized coating can withstand the harsh exposure of both seaside and snowy landscapes. This state-of-the-art polyolefin finish has been widely used in the automotive industry under a range of rigorous conditions, including marine environments where salt water and air corrosion can greatly diminish the lifespan of most outdoor metal products. In addition, our advanced polyolefin finish contains no PVCs making it an environmentally conscious choice. Duraplas™ is both the most bike friendly and rack friendly finish on the market, lasting years to ensure that every purchase is a one-time investment without the excessive maintenance of lesser finishes.

LAYOUTS

Our Varsity® Bike Dock is designed to work as a perpendicular rack, or angled to better accommodate smaller bike parking areas. It’s angled wheel troughs are made to offset handlebars and pedals by always having one bike parked forward.

The docks are modular and can also be installed on a curve, parallel along city streets, in bike corrals and many other areas for bike parking. For more info on planning and layouts for your project, see our consultation section..

Our bike racks, skateboard racks and shelters can be surface mounted using any of the anchors below in the proper base material. We offer anchor kits for concrete and asphalt, and can offer suggestions for anchoring into other materials such as masonry.
